In collaboration with Schenkeveld Tomatoes and Koppert we have developed the system for setting up bumblebee nesting boxes developed. The bumblebee flat ensures that the nesting boxes are placed in this way that the pollinators work maximally effectively, namely horizontally side by side and above the crop. In practice, this appears to be the best place for bumblebee colonies under an illuminated crop. A pneumatic system, controlled by a clock or the computer, opent and close the nest boxes. Thus can bumblebees on the favorablyste times to fly and work. The result is better pollination.
GrowWizzKid approached Metazet with the request to develop a cultivation system suitable for educational purposes. Our engineers got to work and developed a prototype model with four cultivation layers, three of which are height adjustable (depending on the plant size) and one layer specially
is designed for growing on water.
This prototype was not only successfully designed and built, but has since become a standardized product.
As a Westland company, we are used to building innovative solutions for the greenhouse industry. But when Arctic Reflections approached us for a project on the sea ice of Canada, it was a special challenge even for us.
Arctic Reflections is a young organization with an ambitious goal: to artificially thicken sea ice in order to slow the melting of Arctic ice. That ice acts like a mirror – it reflects sunlight and heat back into space. Without that reflective surface, the Earth warms up much faster.
